Jaguar F-Type R Coupe test

Since submit the Jaguar Jaguar F-Type beyond the Paris Salon of 2012, we drooled constantly with each photo and video we have been teaching. Then came the F-Type Coupe and that's when we really fell madly. The spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type is a real beauty and finally we could catch him.

The ultimate Jaguar sports car is a real "breakneck" R version, not only for its occupants, but also pedestrians who inevitably are forced to contemplate its path. And if they're clueless and have not seen the 5.0-liter V8 engine is responsible for their attention. British feline beast Shirt Do you raise with us?
During the last decades Jaguar has left a little forgotten segment of sports and has focused on models Gran Turismo, with plenty of power, but also more weight than desired. Cars for travel and enjoy, but not to squeeze in circuit or mountain roads. That is history thanks to the F-Type range, which now has the convertible and coupe, and the possibility of equipping all-wheel drive and manual transmission, in accordance with what versions.

In this particular version, the most powerful of the range, its direct competitors for power are few, but very upscale. With a slightly lower price is the Nissan GT-R (106,650 euros) and are already above the new Mercedes-AMG GT S (163,400 euros), the veteran Audi R8 V10 (182,375 euros) or V10 Plus (203,235 euros) and the powerful Porsche 911 Turbo, which in its S version with 10 hp more than the Jaguar, costs 100,000 euros (223,967 euros). Is Jaguar F-Type R Coupe a bargain? Let's see.
design sublime
It's hard to find someone who does not like the Jaguar F-Type, and more in this, the most powerful R version. This genius of design, signed by Ian Callum, is one of the most beautiful sports market. Some people prefer the front and others, like myself, we are completely seduced by its imposing and sensual behind. The shape of the rear lights and prominent shoulders, diffuser and four tailpipes (the two central outputs V6 we also love), makes the F-Type Coupe one of the most attractive cars of today.
Your feline features make it an aggressive bet, to which classical par, because in some ways reminds his predecessors, including his E-Type, which has always been considered one of the best designs in automotive history. Perhaps the F-Type Coupe does not reach such extremes, but certainly not indifferent to anyone, especially in this color Polaris White. "It's beautiful" or "What a nice car" are some of the phrases we hear endlessly about all that we find our way.

The light signature feature of its LED daytime running lights, air intakes on the front bumper, nerves and bonnet vents, or attractiveness panoramic glass roof (optional, available for 1,326 euros, not practicable) are some of the most striking features. The tires of this unit in Blade design and 20 inches in diameter, are also optional, at the price of 2,286 euros the game.
Among the features of this F-Type found a reverse opening hood, doors retractable handles automatically and illuminated (see photo), an automatic rear spoiler that unlike equipped in the convertible, is shorter and different design (see photo), or also electric gate opening, which can be activated either from the command / key or from a button inside the vehicle.
The hood is opened in the opposite direction than usual is a detail that is special, but the truth is that there is much to see under it, since the eight-cylinder engine is well covered by a plastic cover, which does not leave much sight, beyond the distinctive Supercharged Jaguar and decorating the set.

And speaking of badges with the name of the brand, plus find in the engine cover on the front grille (with the distinctive "R"), in the center of the wheels (same logo that front), on the rear wing and the animal itself jumping over in the slats of the doorways, on the handles, chrome trim on the side flaps, inside of headlights and even rugs.
Interior and equipment
Inside the design is not as spectacular as the outside but has an attractive appearance and materials, in general, except some plasticoso button that makes little sense in a car of this price, are of good quality. Maybe not convey much sense expensive car like the Porsche 911 or even the new Mercedes-AMG GT, but instead provides unique details that are quite interesting.
And when I speak of only details I refer to a central air vents that are hidden in the dashboard and deployed only to activate the air conditioning system (see photo), about control climate screen inside (see photo) , opening the glove by button and contrast details coppery color (like button start and stop the engine, cams or the knob to change driving modes).

At night the appearance of the interior makes you see it differently, with ambient lighting, in various shades (see photo). White light for courtesy lights central panel, yellow for shorter ranges the dashboard and red in the three handles of the interior (the doors and center console, also for the passenger).
The seats, which in this case have 14 settings (optional), are very comfortable and at the same time, allow you to adjust the upper and lower ears to subject ourselves to the maximum in sports driving or circuit. As in the rest of its competitors, which are very close to the ground, cabin access is not the most comfortable in the world, since there to bend more than usual, but after some contortion can already start playing with the settings to find the perfect posture. The upholstery, incidentally, is with Jet stitching.
Inside the F-Type no spare space for our belongings. There is room for a mobile phone or wallet in the glove compartment or center armrest cup holder compartment, and little else. Behind the occupants, between seats and at the top, there is a small hole that fits from a bottle of water to a small handbag, although in the case of the first can bother looking in the rearview interior, as it stands.

This forces us, for example, to leave our shelter in the trunk, which fortunately has a fairly large size for a car of this type. According sheet, cargo volume is 407 liters, which in practice is sufficient for luggage of two people, who are those who can travel in the car. Under the boot floor, no spare wheel, but a small compartment. For our convenience, we have electrically operated tailgate, also optional.
The unit tested also had additional equipment such as Jaguar Meridian sound system 380 watts and 10 speakers (1,582 euros), heated seats (480 euros) and electrical adjustments 14 (1,592 euros) as well as several packages: Vision Pack 2 (automatic lights, rain sensor, bi-xenon headlights, parking sensors and rear camera, 2,402 euros), Convenience Pack 2 (Valet mode, intelligent Key keyless entry and start and electric gate for 1,337 euros) and Tech Pack (navigation, Bluetooth and cruise control by 3,756 euros).
What we do not understand is that a standard car that costs 122,470 euros (the F-Type 2015, since our unit when the test had a base price 119,000 euros), has to pay a premium for climate automatic dual zone (498 euros) for mirror illuminated visors (214 euros) or the facilities listed above as part of packages, such as Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and light sensors and rain.

Nor especially convinces us the UI of the vehicle. Both menus available through the central dash display like maps navigation system, are too simple and somewhat dated appearance. There seems to art. The menu, though, offers interesting options as a G force meter, a pressure gauge accelerator and brake or timer if visited a circuit.
For now we were on the seat but we started. Tomorrow we will tell you and all driving impressions. Remember that the test is accompanied by a video, supplementing the text. Of course it would be a shame could ye not hear impressive V8 engine. Tomorrow more, and better, but now we leave reviewing the range of Jaguar F-Type, and their price list.
